Di – Instructor/Studio owner

My name is Di Dall’Oglio. I live in Emerald with my hubbie Mark and three children who are growing up way too fast!

I have been teaching fitness/movement for half of my life, starting as an “Aerobics Instructor” in the early 1990’s! I have been teaching Pilates since 2003, but required a detailed understanding of the method. In 2014, I studied a higher level Pilates and gained qualifications recognized by the Australian Pilates Method Association.

Throughout my whole career I have loved teaching and Pilates the most. I believe Pilates is the fountain of youth, It makes me feel flexible, strong, tall and mobile in my body, as well as clear minded, calm and happy.

It has always been my dream to have my own Pilates Studio, and to help others discover the magic of Pilates and the way it can be life changing.

As a teacher and student, I am completely passionate about the Pilates method.

Wendy –Pilates & Barre Teacher

I was born in South Africa, have danced since the age of 10, and became a dance teacher 25 years ago. Pilates was always very central to my dance training, always working towards to the midline of the body.

After moving to Melbourne, I became mum of two, and devoted myself to my family. I live in Selby & love the peaceful lifestyle of the hills.

Always having had a passion for movement & exercise, I became a group fitness instructor once the kids started school, teaching Body Balance and Pilates, and more recently, Barre Attack.

I also practices Irish dance (with my daughter), as I am unable to stop dancing!

I am excited to begin a new journey with Di & Sarah at Emerald Pilates.

Brittany  – Pilates Teacher

Qualifications: Bachelor of Food and Nutrition Science – Deakin University; Cert IV Pilates – Breathe Education.

My name is Brittany Van Steensel. I am a qualified Nutritionist and Pilates Instructor. I have always been passionate about health, wellness and the human body and it is my mission to educate people on how they can create healthy lifestyle habits and achieve physical and psychological balance in their lives.

I am a very friendly and approachable person and love meeting new people! I have always enjoyed keeping fit and have participated in several individual and team sports including Pilates, yoga, horse riding, netball, dancing, snowboarding, surf lifesaving, and an ANB fitness model competition.

In my spare time I enjoy riding my horse and walking my dogs. I also love to cook!

After completing my placement with Emerald Pilates I knew I wanted to be apart of this beautiful community. The studio and people are so warm and welcoming and it is an absolute pleasure to work here.

Steven – Pilates Teacher

I love the Pilates principles: Precision, Concentration, Control, Centring, Flow, and Breath. The principles have taught me to slow down and think about what I’m trying to achieve. I actually use this every day!

I come from a high intensity, Strength and Conditioning background; I love to lift heavy things. Since starting Pilates, I feel great in my body, I don’t ache anymore, and I can lift heavier things!

I actually became a Pilates teacher after my rehabilitation professor recommended Clinical Pilates training. He explained that it’s a great medium to manage patients with injuries. I went and did my first class, and I’ve been hooked ever since.

My dream is to help people get rid of their pain; that’s the primary reason why I decided to study Osteopathy. There’s still a couple of years until I graduate, but I am enjoying the journey. I love Science, so don’t let me get on my Science talks, they go for a while.

Outside of teaching and studying, I love the snow, am a bit of a sci-fi and comic book nerd and am serious at Chess. After high school I was very fortunate to be able to take time off and go abroad. Although my passport is almost full, there are still so many places I want to go. I was able to spend a few years in Europe, a couple of trips through South East Asia, a snow season in Canada, a trip through the US and Central America and worked on the Disney Cruise Line sailing around the world.

I am excited to work at Emerald Pilates because I love the Emerald community. I have known Di for a long time and am looking forward to working alongside her in something that she is so passionate about.

Laura – Pilates & Barre Teacher

As a registered holistic nutritionist with a passion for health and wellness, over the last year, I have come to really appreciate the place that Pilates and Barre play in my life: a place of more control and precision, finesse and elegance; a new way of centering, a new way of movement, a new way of body awareness.

Fitness and exercise have been a part of my life since I was a young child, mainly in the form of long distance running.  Today, I continue my journey as a competitive long distance runner, but have seen first-hand the balance and benefits that Pilates and Barre can add to this passion.

I see wellness as a complete, holistic ensemble and love teaching others and helping them find all the components to create the best version of themselves.  As such, I spend my time as a freelance writer, contributing to health and wellness sites and maintaining my own food and health blog.  In addition, I consult clients; teach workshops and present at corporate wellness events.  Together, with educating, teaching, creating food and practicing my own fitness, I seek to embody and demonstrate a healthy, sustainable lifestyle that anyone can make into their own.

If you don’t find me in the kitchen, I’ll be out running on the trails by the ocean, engaging in my passion for travel as I explore a new part of the world, or taking on a new crazy challenge and adventure. I’m all about trying new (hard) things.

Join me, or any of the other amazing instructors at Emerald Pilates, and you will be taking the first step towards achieving your own healthy, sustainable lifestyle.  And I can’t wait to help you reach your goals.

Tara – Pilates Teacher

As a student of the Pilates method, I was amazed at the positive benefits this discipline provided for both my Body and Mind. The improved flexibility, balance and strength gave me a new confidence to approach daily challenges with a clear view. These benefits were the reason I decided to become a Pilates Instructor.

I strive to ensure all my students receive the same benefits as I do and to empower them through Movement and Mindfulness so they can achieve their own personal goals with confidence.

I feel extremely lucky working with Di at Emerald Pilates for the genuine and inviting atmosphere of the studio, instructors and students.

I have a passion for aviation, including holding a commercial helicopter pilot licence and having also spent time as an international flight attendant. Outside of work I have a great love and appreciation for nature & animals; with my best friend Willow (pictured) always by my side.

Sally Draper  – Yoga Teacher

I come from a creative Visual Merchandising and sports background but have always had a great interest in self-care through mind, body and spirit, which lead me to Yoga.

I enjoy reading and educating myself, playing basketball, traveling to new places and experiencing different cultures, snowboarding and brunching with my beautiful friends and family. I also have two adorable dogs that are treated like little kings.

After feeling the benefits of regular yoga practice, I began experiencing incredible health benefits such as improved energy levels and motivation, increased cognitive brain function, reduced stress levels and I also started to see my improvements in my skin quality.

My passion lies within the philosophy and anatomy of yoga and its amazing health benefits. As a yoga teacher I wish to share my experiences and continue learning from my students and mentors.

I’m super excited to be part of the Emerald Pilates team and embark on the yogic journey with all of the local community. I look forward to meeting you on your mat.

Liz Paynter

For many years yoga has been a big part of my life. Initially my practice was focused on the physical benefits of yoga offered. A shift happened two years ago when life became quite challenging – I increased my practice and suddenly my yoga mat became my escape – the mental and emotional benefits were enourmous.

Through meditation and Yoga I gained a sense of calm and balance.

I completed my yoga teacher training in 2017. I love sharing my practice with others and believe yoga has the ability to completely expand your body and mind. For me it has taught me to live peacefully and powerfully.

I am very excited to share my practice with you all in the Emerald community. See you on your mat!

Vandana Kiran

Being from India, Yoga has been a part of my life since my childhood. Yoga has taught me how to laugh at myself in silly and awkward circumstances and be brave and calm in difficult situations. I live by the quote/saying “Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. That’s why it’s called the present!”

I believe that if we are mindful and happy in our present moment we can look forward to a happier tomorrow and forever! YOGA gives us the tools for a happier and more peaceful life thus the teachings are a part of my daily life!

I have had the privilege of learning different styles of yoga which have helped me at different stages in my life. I have practiced Iyengar yoga in Pune, India and Kriya Yoga from Art of living centre, Bangalore India. Learning Kriya Yoga helped me master the subtle art of Pranayama and meditation. Along with being a trained Yoga Teacher, I am also a level II Reiki practitioner.

The last 3 years have seen me practice Vinyasa style of yoga and I Love it!!!

My thirst for knowledge led me to complete my 200hr teacher training program which enables me to share my knowledge and experiences with you. I hope to create a safe space for you to experience transformation every time you practice yoga with me!

My yoga experience came all so natural to me. Always having an interest in physical activities and the mind, yoga seemed to fit perfectly. I was drawn to yoga as it really teaches you not just how to stay healthy but how to access parts of the mind I’d never knew of. From the postures to meditation, it brings clarity and positivity to everyday situations. Experiencing your real breath taking the time to be in the moment. Through understanding the mind and body we can help raise our energy and create that connection that seems to be lost in this days society.
My experiences are still young and I’m so happy to be able to learn and grow through emerald and its community. The studio has such a kind and gentle energy with such strength and focus. Its a honour to be able to share these experiences with each and every person.
